I recently stumbled across a powerful video on The Work of the People, a "community of artists who create visual media for the church to re-orient God's people around Jesus' good news and mission to make all things new." This video features my friend and the pastor of Ecclesia Church in Houston, Chris Seay. (It isn't brand new, but it is amazingly fresh.)
Sitting in a major leaugue baseball park, Chris munches on an eight dollar hot dog and reflects on the American way of life, global inequalities, and our role as followers of Jesus. I encourage you to watch this video and post your feedback here.
It blew me away, and I think it will you too.

I've seen this before, but thanks for reminding me of it. Seay makes the point well.

Thanks for posting that, Jonathan.
My problem, though, is that it's much easier for me to talk the talk than to walk the walk. I need to reprogram my mind when it comes to my money and my suffering brothers.

Wow. Jonathan I know it's been a while since I have come back to church or seen you guys, but this video hit me.... hard. I have been spending so much time feeling sorry for myself going through financial difficulties, and never once have I stepped back to be thankful for what my children and I do have. Clean water, food, shelter, and medical help are something we continuously take for granted. Thank you for posting this.
Miss you guys!

Hey man, very powerful and sobering video. We all need perspective and the analogy he gave was so convicting. I think part of our problem with Christians in America is that we think more American than we do Biblically.

Love this. So the question is...how do we get people to realize that money could feed and give drink to the hungry and thirsty? How DO we make it happen...

I have something much more absurd than an $8 hot dog - Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize based upon his first 10 days in office. (He was nominated on his 11th day in office.)
